KOMBAT KOOL is a pure mineral and vitamin supplement that has no fillers to interfere with uptake (unlike other vitamin/mineral supplements). It is specially formulated for non-sweaters and will supply all of the compounds a horse needs to produce sweat.

KOMBAT KOOL has been tested on horses in Florida and has been shown to work on a variety of non-sweating horses over an extended period of time in Florida’s warm and humid climate.

Scientists still haven’t figured out exactly why horses lose the ability to sweat. They do know that no breed, sex, or gender of horse is safe, as studies have shown that any adult horse is just as likely as another to develop the inability to sweat. There is no “cure” for non-sweaters yet that works on every horse, every time, just as there are no prescription medications currently available to prevent or treat non-sweating.

However, researchers have found that the sweat glands of horses that have difficulty sweating secrete chloride ions differently than other horses. And, because chloride is a component of normal sweat along with sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and other minerals, there is speculation that a mineral or vitamin imbalance in a particular horse plays a vital role in the ability to sweat. The natural corollary of this is the argument that if a horse is able to ingest and use the proper amount and balance of vitamins and minerals, i.e., chloride, sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium etc. every day, then the horse should have the compounds available to allow it to sweat properly.
